Asteroid Exploration

Characterization | Navigation | Formation Flying
Novel approaches to characterize asteroids with the goal of resource utilization and examining bodies from the time of the birth of the solar system are being investigated. Precise knowledge and understanding of the characteristics, such as shape, gravity field, density variation, and composition can potentially assist with accurately navigating a single spacecraft or a swarm of spacecraft in the vicinity of an unknown asteroid.
